Banus doesn't view the violence that occurred as "attempted rape," per se. "He wants to help remind her of the wonderful times they've had and how sensual and sexual their relationship is," she explains of the scenes. "And Gabi just is not with it at the moment. She's upset. And when a woman or anyone is upset, they want to be left alone."

WTF? Is this Luke and Laura?

<< insert long stream of expletives here >>

My personal interpretation of what I saw on my screen: Gabi didn't want it. He kept going. That's attempted rape.

I would have understood if Camilla Banus was clarifying that she the actress is aware that this situtation *is* attempted rape, but that she was portraying her character Gabi as not understanding.

But the interview isn't stated that way.

The interview states that Banus doesn't view the violence that occurred as attempted rape.

I just can't ...

I'm not even touching the rape comments.

I like that Alison and Lauren also thought those episodes had a 90s feel to them. They really should shoot like that more often. It just felt refreshing (even though they were dumping a body!).

Blake is so still there. I'm enjoying this storyline 10x more than I thought I would (so far, knock on wood).

“Well, I think people are always salvageable,” the actor teases. “I don’t think anybody is unsalvageable. And I think if Nick makes it through this chapter, that he might learn a lot. But whether he makes it remains to be seen.”

Stop trying to be a tease, Blake, your sexy ass is coming back. It's a shame what they've done to Nick, but he's right... any character can come back from darkness. Just look at Ej, Stefano, Sami, Kate, Nicole, Victor.... pretty much everyone at some point or another on this show. It's no coincidence they also tend to be the most interesting characters to watch.

However, when Nick comes back, I'd like for him to stay a baddie. Not a rapist-level baddie, but a tortured soul who isn't as easily swept away by his own fantasies. In a lot of ways, his character is taking the same turns as Ej, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

If Gabi didn't view Nick's actions as attempted rape how could she justify "killing" him?

She just wanted to remind him that when she's not in the mood it's best to leave her alone????

I hope very much that Nick is still alive - I love the character, I love Blake Berris.
Of course any character on a soap is redeemable, willing suspension of disbelief and all that LOL

If the DAYS writers were actually talented, I'd love to see a story that focuses on Nick's mental health issues. After everything that Nick went through in prison, along with possibly inheriting his mom's mental illness, it seems that Nick is suffering from a severe mental health issue. If Nick received counseling for his problems, and if Marlena prescribed some medication to help Nick deal with his mental issues, then DAYS could write an awesome redemption storyline for Nick.

It's a huge shame that DAYS dropped the ball on showing the aftermath of Nick admitting that he'd been raped in prison. Nick was put on the back burner after the rape reveal, and when Nick finally got a storyline again, it was about his obsession with Gabi. So, there was a huge section of the storyline that DAYS just skipped over in order to do another "Nick's a psycho" storyline.

Agreed, Carly.

I know this is major wishful thinking on my part, but presuming Nick is still alive, they could still delve into some of his issues when he "returns." And with Blake talking about redeemable characters in that article, maybe that'll be his next story.

Most likely, though, they'll probably just focus on him being a villain who attacked Gabi.

Well yeah, a talented team of writers would be delving into Nick's mental issues.
But it is far easier for this lazy lot to take him down the "psycho obsessive rapist" route.

It does sound like Nick is alive! I'm thrilled, I love Blake Berris! And I certainly hope they redeem his character! :(

I love the idea of Blake Berris and Deirdre Hall in an emotionally wrenching SL - Marlena getting Nick the help and the therapy he needs.
BB would hit this one out of the park if the writing was there.

Blake Berris rocked these scenes! And, while the storyline here may be wanting in some ways, I'm just really glad that the writers did not just relegate him to being the continual honorary lab test results switcher.

I also enjoyed the set and the Kate/Sami dynamic.

Seriously. What show do these people think they're on?

Quote:

Adds Sweeney: “I am so excited [to see Sami and Kate on the same side]. It was such a shock to see that, after Sami and Kate’s longstanding feud and being at odds. Lauren Koslow and I always talked about how, while we love fighting together and we love that we’ve had this dynamic for such a long history, we always sort of talked about how similar Sami and Kate were, so if we were ever put together, what would that be like? So now, to have this opportunity to be on the same side has been nothing but fun. We love it.”

They've been on the same side for at least the last year. And before that, in the last few years, they've been on the same side MULTIPLE TIMES. It's not 2001.

What, yet
another rape
story for Days? Can't they
think of anything else to
write about?
We had Jack raping Kayla,
Ej raping Sami and I am
sure I have missed some.

It seems to me this show is
obsessed with rape. Seriously, what
happened to my Love In The Afternoon?

I hope Blake Berris is still alive. I'm not a huge fan of this storyline. I feel Blake's been thrown under the bus for Camila Banus and Gabi. I'd much rather see Nick on my screen than Gabi. She's just so boring.

From DR's interview with Blake:

Have you gotten to work with anyone different over the last few months?

I was really stoked to be able to work with Ali and James more this time around on the show.

I don't believe I remember any scenes with Nick and EJ, so his work with James must still be coming up. Tends to make me think Nick is still among the living.

Unless he was referring to scenes with Ali & James together. There were several of those before Arianna was born when Nick was blackmailing Will. Either way, I definitely think Nick is among the living.

I guess I was looking at "the last few months" and thinking he literally meant more recently.

As you said, I do believe that Nick is alive.
